FAQs

  • Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes how emotions, stress, and trauma are stored in the body. Somatic therapy helps you tune into physical sensations, breath, and movement to process and release unresolved tension. Somatic therapy can help reduce chronic stress and physical tension, increase emotional resilience and self-awareness, and heal trauma by restoring a sense of safety and connection in the body.

This approach is especially helpful for those who feel "stuck" in patterns of anxiety, dissociation, or emotional overwhelm. By reconnecting with your body, you can experience deep healing, greater calm, and a renewed sense of wholeness.

  • Cognitive therapy helps you understand and shift unhelpful thought patterns that may be influencing your emotions and behaviors. Often, past experiences shape the way we see ourselves and the world—sometimes leading to patterns of self-doubt, worry, or emotional distress.

Through cognitive therapy, we work together to bring awareness to these patterns and create new, healthier ways of thinking. This process can help you feel more in control of your emotions, improve decision-making, and cultivate greater self-compassion.

  • Cognitive and somatic therapy complement each other by addressing both the mind and body’s role in healing. By integrating these approaches, healing becomes a whole-body experience. Rather than just thinking differently, you begin to feel different—calmer, more present, and more in tune with yourself. This holistic approach supports lasting change by helping you rewire both the mind and the nervous system for greater ease and well-being.

  • Somatic therapy sessions follow a structured yet intuitive process that allows the brain and body to process trauma in a way that feels safe and regulated. A session may include:

    • Finding a core tension – Noticing subtle physical sensations that may be holding previous stress or trauma.

    • Following the body’s intuitive processing – Allowing the body’s natural healing mechanisms to address trauma and its lasting impact.

    • Bringing awareness to emotions – Helping reprocess shock, fear, or grief that may be stored within the body.

    • Allowing gentle release – As the body processes, the nervous system integrates these shifts, promoting emotional and physical resilience.

  • Therapy offers a path to healing, grounding, and transformation.

Honestly, any time is a good time to take steps towards prioritizing your mental health! Starting therapy is really about when you feel ready for support. Many people reach out when they’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, stressed, or having a hard time in relationships.

Some signs that therapy might be helpful include:

    • Feeling anxious, sad, or burned out

    • Having trouble coping with changes, loss, or big life events

    • Struggling with communication, trust, or connection in relationships

    • Feeling disconnected from yourself or others

    • Wanting to heal from trauma or better manage emotions

    • Looking for personal growth, clarity, or a sense of direction

If you’re thinking about working through trauma or ongoing stress, starting therapy when you feel somewhat stable can actually help the healing process. Feeling more grounded makes it easier to stay present, build coping skills, and make the most out of your sessions. Therapy can also be a proactive step toward maintaining emotional wellness and building resilience.

If you're wondering whether therapy is the right next step, scheduling a consultation can help you explore your needs and goals in a supportive environment.
